Earth, Space, & Disasters In this course, students will learn the basics of Earth Science and astronomy, including the formation of the structure of the Solar System, the formation and death of stars, and the structure of our planet, as well as the historical development of human civilization. They will use this knowledge to consider the many natural disasters that have affected life on Earth, including the asteroid impact that contributed to the extinction of the dinosaurs, the volcano that buried the Roman city of Pompeii, and the bubonic plague epidemic of the Middle Ages. The course is designed primarily for students who have taken applied level science in grade 10. Students with Academic science who are interested in this area should take SES4U, Earth & Space Science.
